Unboxing: CCA Number 3

It's like Christmas around here!

My third order has arrived and this one was definitely full of winners. My first purchase was Beowulf, last year's Halloween horse. I collect the Halloween series (only if I like them) but I haven't been rushing in to purchasing them in recent years. They used to be so hard to find and I had a friend who would help me by picking them up at her local dealer - but in recent years they sit on the Breyer site for a long time. So now I usually wait for a sale and this was a double opportunity - he is 25% off and ordering as part of CCA is an extra savings!

I only recently saw one in person at Kitten Me and the color is so much cooler than it looks in the photos! I thought it was sort of a flat reddish color but the metallic element of the paint really comes out in person. And I love a metallic. He's also suuuuuper glossy (they are really nailing the gloss recently, none of that shell gloss that was coming out for awhile) - look at that shine!

I also love Glow in the Dark! That was the first thing that drew me to the Halloween line, when they released Merry Widow and she glows! I casually conga the Mustang too so I knew this guy would eventually join the herd.

I also love his box! Usually these days I don't give the box a second thought before tossing it, but I love how he looks with the spooky forest background - I almost want to keep it to display him with.

Next up I ordered Snowman! He has been a fixture of the Breyer line for over 10 years, having been first released in 2013. I collect pretty much all the warmblood and sport horse molds so it was surprising I didn't have him already - and in fact I did buy him when he first came out - but I did a big purge when we moved in 2016 and sold most of my Idocus models. It turned out I missed them and have been slowly buying them back.

This one is very nice! Lovely fleabites, great face shading, very white, and the mane and tail are very well connected. He is definitely nice enough to be a keeper!

Sometimes the eye on this run is a weird looking black dot but on this one I think the eye looks great.

I did apparently get the rare "blue ear" variation 🤣 I'm not sure what is up with that - but everything else about him is so nice I can roll with it.

Last of the regular runs in my order was Cody's Wish! I conga Carrick but I have been waiting for a sale to buy this one. Interestingly of all the models I have been tracking prices for, Cody's Wish doesn't move. I imagine it is because of the story and the charity aspect that he doesn't get discounted, but it has been interesting to follow.

I have in my memory, and this could be a false memory, but I think that when Cody's Wish was first released he had the most amazing shading in his paint job, very much like the images shown on the Breyer site. Many of the ones you see today, and I've seen this happen with other RRs enough that I want to do a post about it, are now more of a flat bay and now even more similar to Brass Hat.

This one is absolutely lovely, and does have some nice shading - but I'm not sure if he's "The One" so I'm keeping him in box for now. I'm going to make a point of looking closely at them at Breyerfest to see if I can spot an early heavily shaded one.

I was so excited to see that I got Atlanta as my glossy this round!! She was my number one pick and she is absolutely stunning in high gloss. This particular one is very dark with almost no bay/brown showing - so maybe that sneak peek that looked all black to us was actually Atlanta after all.

I have one more box coming, because nothing matters and I have the four CC accounts this year for the four mustangs so might as well put them to good use! Once I see what number four is and if I need any trades then I'll de-box the glossies too.

Today is the last day to order one and there are only a few hours left (it ends at 10am ET) so if you're feeling FOMO now is the time. On the other hand, there's a good chance we will see these glossies again in the fall, especially if this round does not sell out.
