Monday Markets: June 2 2025

Wow here we are in June already! Here in the northeast we have been stuck in a cold and rainy weather cycle so it sure hasn't felt like summer is near. Yet still summer and Breyerfest approaches! I can't wait!

Today I was most surprised to see that prices are back down on Amazon - a nearly $3 drop on average and only two models are up from last week (Mojave and Radiance). I'm not sure if this is the TACO tariff trade or just a summer sale - but I'm keeping an eye on it for sure.

Buy of the week is the 2025 AQHA Remuda - the first of the 2025 models to go on sale, he is $39.20 today. I personally would expect to see him available for even lower as the year goes on, if the prior version Bandera is any indication. He wasn't hugely popular and there were a lot of him leftover. I think the fact that they didn't paint Bandera's eyes was a big turnoff (I know it was for me) so that could help Remuda.

On to my favorite sales of the week over on eBay.

This is "just" a palomino Western Horse but it being the 75th Anniversary it's always nice to see the first freestanding model! This one is not the very earliest but is a pretty early one. He has a beautifully detailed saddle with the gold accents and the higher grommet on the saddle for the girth connection is the earliest style. I loved him!

I always enjoy seeing woodgrains with their original tenite sticker! This one sold for a Best Offer of $185. The FAS is one of the most common woodgrains but this one is really nice and in excellent condition - add the sticker and he's a special piece!

This gorgeous Copenhagen running mare and foal set sold for $3000. I thought they might have gone higher just because they color and condition on these are so nice. I particularly like that nice dark color on the mare.

This lovely Duwamish popped up and sold very quickly for a Buy It Now of $3500. He's a rarity at only 42 made and a popular new mold. I wonder if he would have gone higher at auction.

Another event model, this lovely Confetti sold for a best offer of $725. That is way down from the two that sold in February of this year for $1000 and $1350. However before that he was selling around $500 so maybe that is just coming back down to where you would expect.

And another one that has come out of the stratosphere, this Bondi sold for a best offer of $600. His event was right in the middle of the height of the rarities market and he was regularly selling for $1000-$1500+ (and sadly I paid that much for mine!) Then again one did sell as recently as April for $1075.

The rarities market can be fickle and spotty. I would also say May and June are generally buyers months as we lead in to Breyerfest. Many a year I have regretted passing up what looked like some eBay deals in favor of saving for Breyerfest, only to find prices were back up to normal or more come late July and August!
