Monday Markets: Feb 10 2025

I was a little bit lax in keeping up my watch list this week (NaMo really has been taking up most of my hobby time and attention!) but there were still some interesting sales to look at!

Here's one I wish I had kept - Sunshine Celebration was one of the events I was lucky enough to attend and a while back I decided I wasn't collecting the ASB anymore so I sold my conga. This one was my favorite though and I had a very nice one, ah well. This beautiful Confetti sold for $1350 this week.

This gorgeous Wedgewood Running Mare was snapped up with a Buy It Now of $1100 - I would have jumped on that too. She looks particularly nice with beautiful shading. Even though the running mare is the least desirable of the vintage decorators wedgewood is especially hard to find in nice condition.

This Showcase Collection QH Gelding sold for a Best Offer of $800. The Showcase collection boxes are among the rarest - in particular because of their fragile nature. I've had a couple of these and the plastic shell is so brittle and thin, especially after all these years. So they are always super cool to see, although they are nerve wracking to touch and transport! This particular guy has been around the block a few times - I recognize the yellowed and slightly damaged plastic - but still a rare find all original and with the catalog

Speaking of catalogs, this lot of vintage box catalogs went for $190.50! These all continue to get harder to find with time and it's nice to see a set in such great condition. The 1970 one with the Clydesdale mare and foal is the real rarity of the lot and much harder to come by than the rest of the group. It took me a really long time to find the box catalogs from 1969-1973 to complete my set. Starting in 1974 they get relatively more common. I remember when I first started going to Breyerfest in the mid-90s people doing room sales used to have piles and piles of box catalogs in the "free bin" by their door, mostly 80s and 90s but even the late 70s ones were pretty plentiful. I was sad when they stopped having them in with new models. The internet is fun and all but I love a paper catalog.

Meanwhile over in new model land, I mentioned it over the weekend but I was surprised to see a 20% off everything sale so soon that included most of the 2025 releases. This drove the average price on Amazon down again for another week - quite a few available under $40 and for even less than the 20% off direct from Breyer, notably Cossaco at $37.60, Adamek at $38.07, Battlefield Angel at $39.47 and Salvino at $39.70.
