June is a Tough Month

For me, at least!

The company I work for has a fiscal year end of June 30 and I am in the sales department so that means the final month is always all hands on deck! Last year I even missed submitting my Breyerfest preference lists because the window is short and I was so swamped with work stuff that I forgot. This year I am keeping a much closer eye on it to avoid that mistake again. The upside of this is that July is the first month of a new year so it's the perfect time to vacation and nobody minds me disappearing to Breyerfest every year (and I don't have to drag my laptop along like I did in my old job).

June is always a crunch for the social calendar too - it's the first real nice weather month and weekends are usually busy. It makes prepping for Breyerfest that much more difficult to fit in! Every year I think I should really just do it during the doldrums of winter, but I don't know if its ADHD or SAD or just being human but it's hard to get motivated when it's cold and dark and the deadline is so far away. So the June crunch comes every year!

Luckily this year again I am not showing at the show and usually the show preparation is the hardest part. Narrowing down your show string and making the horse list and documentation and of course things like collectors class display creation and practice - it's many hours of work! My biggest prep this year is pulling sales models, researching prices, and then packing them up. I'm also casually working on an AOTH Stone Arabian model for Equilocity - also something I should have started months ago but hey, like everything else, I art best under time pressure 😆

At the moment I'm over here still shuffling around my theoretical preference lists (although I would not be at all surprised to see the forms sent out later today). I think I'm going to fight my FOMO demons and go back to my original plan of going all in on the molds I collect (and the surprise) in case of rare variations. I know I do not collect Brishen or Croi or other animals so, despite them being lovely and I'm sure I will look at them wistfully at BF, I am going to resist putting in for them.

I don't know if I collect the mare and foal or the criollo - that sounds weird but I wasn't in the premier club last year, and even so I wasn't a fan of their original releases, so I might still like them in person in other colors. So I may hedge for one of each of those although I am still on the fence about the dapples and possible mane variation for Future is Bright. So then it's the Old Timer, Show Jumping Warmblood, Silver and Surprise - let's go!! Meanwhile there is always the possibility that you don't get your top picks anyway. May the odds be ever in your favor.
