I Did It!

I finished my NaMoPaiMo horse! This is only my second time actually finishing (and it's only the 16th!) so just that is a huge win. I think sticking with minis, at least for the time being, is probably my way forward.

I'm really happy with how he turned out. I was planning to do most of the main work in acrylic and then do the roaning and details with pencil, but I just could not get the pencil to go down the way I wanted it, so I ended up doing the roaning in acrylic too. I was so worried it would look a mess but with enough thin layers and a tiny brush it totally worked.

Normally I start with the show side and then my technique improves as I progress and I end up liking the offside better. This year I thought I would outsmart myself and start with the offside - but alas, I still like the offside better, lol. At least it is also his mane side so you can sort of still call it the show side.

The weather here today is gross - so it was a good day to finish but not a great day for the photos. I see they came out very dark compared to the progress pics.
