Are The Grab Bags Worth It?

Deluxe Grab Bag 7
Deluxe Grab Bag 7

TLDR; Mostly yes - particularly Apple or Deluxe Number 7

The 2024 Warehouse Sale grab bags are out and starting to arrive so now that we know what is in them - should you get one? The extended sale ends tomorrow at 10 AM EST and the grab bags may disappear or go up in price so let's take a look. As has been the case in recent years there is nothing earth shattering in any of them, like samples or rarities leftovers, but does the value actually add up? I took a look at the contents and what they are selling for and did my own math. If the models were available on the Breyer site I used their current price (many are on sale) and for anything that is sold out or a special run I used the average selling price on eBay as a reference point.

Conclusion: Buy! This grab bag has an excellent value for both collection or resale. These models are mostly on popular new molds, limited runs, and likely to increase in value in the coming years

Conclusion: Good if you want them for your collection, but not so much for resale. This bag has slightly less popular molds and some less popular models so it probably wouldn't be worth it if you were going to try to resell the contents, but if you were looking to buy most of these for your own collection then it is still a good deal.

Conclusion: Similar to Peppermint, this one is good if you need them for your collection, but not so much for resale. These particular models have been pretty plentiful on the secondary market so they would be harder to resell, but personally I have many of them and if you needed them it's a good deal.

Cost: 179.95

Value: 296.86

Difference: 116.91

Conclusion: This one is a no for me unless you are buying for a child or new collector. Although the value is there, many of these models are aimed more at the toy market and less popular with collectors. These are all pretty prevalent on the secondary market and if you are only looking for some of these you are probably better off buying them separately - many are still available on the Breyer site and if you have the club discount that extra 10% off could make the difference too.

Cost: 179.95

Value: 335.58

Difference: 155.63

Conclusion: If you love Unicorns and fantasy this is as great buy! It also has pretty good value for resale if you're only interested in some of the models in this box. I bought this one last year and I am not a unicorn collector but just the top three horses valued at around $140 nearly cover the entire cost so if you sell everything else you get a good deal on those.
