A Sneaky Reveal!

It's the last day to buy Breyerfest tickets that have the option to submit special run preferences. Breyer sent an e-mail yesterday with a reminder and what did they sneak in there but a roached mane Future Is Bright! It looks like that will be the hair split model after all. It was one of my guesses but not my first choice - I was just starting to look forward to the braided version of Let The Good Times Roll! Maybe they still will do that too - this year could be full of surprises.
It seems I am not alone - the roached mane version is pretty polarizing among hobbyists from what I have seen. You either love it or you hate it and it seems more people are in the latter camp. It was probably a smart move to reveal this one before preferences go out for that reason. Better for everyone to go in making an informed decision on this one.
We also don't know what the split ratio might be. Traditionally the hair split and the finish split have been 50/50 - but last year they broke from that and had one as a rarer option. Might they do that again? Could the roached mane version be a run of just 75? Or 200? Or 750? People are generally more accepting of getting a variation they don't like if it is also rare 😆
I'm a little torn now about putting him on my list too. I was hoping for the full mane version and I may also want to handpick one for dapples I like. I'm thinking I might just try to buy one secondhand even if it's a little more expensive. I don't mind paying a markup when I can handpick a really nice one.
All in all I think this stands to make the Old Timer even harder to get, as well as probably the Show Jumper and the Silver. Other than the mare & foal I'm going to be picking exclusively models that are in person and online for my tickets and based on the general popularity it sure looks like I won't be alone. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Wild Card ends up only being YOLO, the Croi, and the dog.
Edited to add: Of course also the surprise! There are plenty of those to go around.
In other news - I was able to score my Equilocity Art of the Horse dinner + shopping ticket yesterday. They sold out in minutes this year! Although you can still get a non-shopping dinner ticket if you want to come for the food (it was excellent last year - probably the only non-junk food I had all weekend) and the entertainment which is sure to be excellent. I love both of the Pebbles dinner models too. Ultimately I picked the mule.
Oh and I got lounge tickets! They also sold out instantly. In years past I have missed them too so I made sure to be on right when they went on sale this time. I've never been in the lounge before so I'm looking forward to trying it. From the comments I've seen it might be crowded and full most of the time, but I like the idea of AC and refreshments so I wanted to do it at least once.
I can't believe we are only a month away!
